Hi! This is my first blog post. I am a traditional girl from Texas, and I am blogging about my wedding plans for know, but hopefully in the next few months/years it will expand to blogging about building my new house, and planning for a baby.
The wedding planning is much harder than I ever expected. I have spent the past 10 months glued to my computer and bridal magazines searching for inspiration. That's the easy part. I never tire of reading my favorite wedding blogs: stylemepretty, weddingbee, and snippetandink. And I have read each one of my favorite wedding magazines (MSW, Elegant Bride, Inside Weddings, Town and Country Weddings) at least 15 times, seriously. The hard part is making the endless phone calls to Aspen to make arrangements with vendors from 1500 miles away.
So, I live in Houston, Texas, and for some crazy reason I decided to have my wedding in Aspen, CO, even though we have zero friends or family from Colorado. It will be a beautiful, unique setting for us, our family, and our friends, but I would be lying to say I didn't regret the decision somewhat. We kind of got carried away with the romantic idea of the wedding in the mountains before considering the difficult logistics for us, our family, and friends to get there. The planning is definitely harder, but on the upside, I have to let go of some of my controlling perfectionism, at least in theory ;) Another upside is that it will be intimate, but the downside of intimate is that it will be that way because a lot of people cannot come, including some people that we will really miss.
Oh well, there's no going back now, so full speed ahead to Aspen, September 2008!!! At the end of the day, I will be married to the man of my dreams and we will be starting the rest of our lives together, which is the most important part of the day, anyway!
Next post: wedding theme and inspiration board, if I can figure out how to make it.
